Olivia, you write about the issues so clearly. Being a white male in Australia, I haven’t had to put up with this sort of trespass. However, many years ago when my son was a baby, I had him, asleep, on my lap at a party. A woman came into the room. She stank of tobacco smoke and alcohol. She reached out and was about to pick my son up. With raised voice, I told her to leave him alone. She ignored me and put her hands around him, waking him. He looked at her and started screaming. She backed off and said, “What’s his problem?” I replied, “You’re the problem.” To this she responded, “Why bring a baby here if you don’t want him admired?”

Yes, it seems it has always been and still is open season on touching and fondling children.
