Nice beginning. I fully understand your statement about being inspired to start a story, not knowing where it will take me or the reader. I have even started a story (Jigsaw) and then written the 16 ‘chapters’ out of order with only a vague notion of where it would end.

One other comment: when you get to edit it, check the changes of tense.
