‘Eucalyptus’ means ‘well covered’ and refers to the capped flower buds. These are just starting to open.

However, what was a single genus of Eucalyptus has now been divided into three: Eucalyptus, Corymbia and Angophora.

The buds above are on a Corymbia ficifolia (used to be Eucalyptus ficifolia). It is in a group known as the Bloodwoods.
